Blackburn

Blackburn is a suburb of Melbourne located 17km’s east of the CBD and is part of the Whitehorse region. Europeans first settled in Blackburn in the 1840s. The area was full of trees, but it didn’t take long before orchards and small farms were developed. In 1861 the Traveler’s Rest Inn was built on the current site of the Blackburn Hotel. Blackburn Creek Post Office was opened in 1876 but renamed to Blackburn in 1883.
